Underarm Hyperhidrosis

Botulinum toxin type A commonly known as BOTOX is used to treat sweating, it is given by several small injections into the skin.  It is licensed in the UK for treating localised hyperhidrosis of the armpits (axillae).

BOTOX temporarily blocks the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands therefore stopping the sweating in the treated area.

The treatment is not a cure for hyperhidrosis – but it does provide temporary relief.
